The Psychiatry in General Hospital Unit operating in the Central Hospital examines and treats mental disturbances and diseases related to general diseases of adult patients. The unit also analyses the effect of mental factors on the development and course of diseases. Still another target of operation is to help the general diseases staff understand and encounter the patients' mental problems.

The central working methods of psychiatry in general hospital are consultations, active co-operation with other specialist fields, work guidance and training, and crisis therapy.
The Psychiatry in General Hospital Unit has a policlinic and inpatient ward (No. 7).
