Delivery

The delivery ward in Central Finland Central Hospital is open 24 hours a day. For detailed contact information, see this page.

When to leave for hospital?

  • You have experienced contractions in 5–10 minute intervals for several hours. When it’s time for your delivery, contractions become painful, and the interval of contractions shortens constantly.
  • After no more than 12 hours after your waters have broken. If this is during the night, you can wait until the next morning.
  • If your waters are green, you should come to the hospital immediately.
  • If you experience bleeding and persistent abdominal pain in between the contractions, you should come to the hospital immediately.
  • If you’re less than 37 weeks pregnant and you suspect your waters have broken and/or that you’re in delivery, contact us immediately.

If you are unsure whether you should come to the hospital, it is always a good idea to call us.

Delivery ward’s on-call midwife answers your calls at +358 14 269 1204.
