Intrauterine insemination IUI

Intrauterine insemination (IUI) is a fertility treatment that involves placing sperm inside a woman’s uterus to facilitate fertilization. A semen sample will be washed by the lab to separate the semen from the seminal fluid. A catheter will then be used to insert the sperm through cervical canal directly into the uterus. Before IUI, ovulation stimulating medications may be used. The pregnancy rate is about 10-20 % per cycle.

Timing of the treatment

The IUI procedure will be planned after the vaginal ultrasound examination in Naistentautien poliklinikka.

You will be advised to do an ovulation test for the timing of insemination. When this test shows positive, call Ovumia-Fertinova to make the appointment. Number is 020 7479313, Monday to Friday 8.15-15:00.

The IUI procedure

-       The IUI procedure will be performed in Ovumia Fertinova, Väinonkatu 30, Jyväskylä.
